As a wedding photographer who has captured countless beach weddings across Palm Beach County, I've witnessed firsthand the magic that unfolds when couples say "I do" with their toes in the sand and the Atlantic Ocean as their backdrop. I'm Ashlie Arones of Sardinas Media, and today I'm sharing my insider knowledge to help you plan the perfect beach wedding in our slice of paradise.

Why Choose Palm Beach for Your Beach Wedding?

Palm Beach isn't just another Florida beach destination. Our pristine coastline offers something truly special - a perfect blend of natural beauty and sophistication. From the historic charm of Worth Avenue to the crystal-clear waters lapping at our shores, this area provides a stunning canvas for your wedding day.

Top Beach Wedding Locations in Palm Beach

One of my favorite locations for intimate beach weddings, Carlin Park offers 3,000 feet of pristine beachfront. The park features beautiful rock formations that make for incredible photo opportunities, and the surrounding area is less crowded than some of our other beaches. The park also has ample parking and facilities for your guests.

This location holds a special place in my heart. The historic Lake Worth Casino Building provides a gorgeous backdrop, and the beach itself offers plenty of space for ceremonies of any size. The pier adds an architectural element to your photos that can be absolutely stunning at sunset.

If you're looking for that perfect blend of beach and city vibes, Delray is your spot. The beach here is wide and welcoming, with plenty of nearby restaurants and hotels for your guests. The Atlantic Avenue area provides endless photo opportunities before or after your ceremony.

Weather Considerations for Your Beach Wedding

Best Times of Year

As someone who shoots here year-round, I can tell you that our peak wedding season runs from October through April. These months offer more comfortable temperatures and lower humidity. However, don't completely rule out summer weddings - they can be beautiful too, just plan accordingly!

Season-by-Season Breakdown:

Fall (October-December): Perfect temperatures, low humidity, but book early as this is peak season

Winter (January-March): Mild temperatures, less rain, gorgeous light

Spring (March-May): Warming up but still comfortable, beautiful blooming vegetation

Summer (June-September): Hot and humid with afternoon thunderstorms, but better prices and fewer crowds

Be sure to use my Checklist and Timeline Guides!

Permits and Legal Requirements

Don't let paperwork dampen your beach wedding dreams! Here's what you need to know:

Required Permits

Beach Wedding Permit: Required for all Palm Beach County beaches with a photographer

Special Event Permit: Needed if you're having more than 50 guests

Contact the specific municipality where you plan to hold your ceremony, as requirements vary by location. For example, Palm Beach proper has stricter requirements than Lake Worth Beach.

How to Obtain Permits

  • Apply at least 30-60 days in advance
  • Provide proof of liability insurance
  • Submit detailed plans including setup and breakdown times
  • Expect to pay $150-$500 depending on location and group size

The Ultimate Beach Wedding Packing List

After photographing numerous beach weddings, I've seen what works and what doesn't. Here's my must-pack list:

For the Ceremony

  • Beach wedding arch or bamboo poles (check if your vendor provides these)
  • Lightweight chairs for elderly guests
  • Battery-powered speaker system (wind can affect sound)
  • Sand ceremony supplies (if including this ritual)
  • Ceremony décor that can withstand wind
  • Clear stakes for securing decorations
  • Aisle runner (if desired)

For the Couple and Wedding Party

  • Comfortable beach-appropriate shoes (and backup flip-flops)
  • Portable fans or parasols
  • Touch-up makeup kit
  • Hair spray and bobby pins
  • Sunscreen (reef-safe recommended)
  • Bug spray (especially for evening events)
  • Water bottles and light snacks
  • Emergency kit (safety pins, stain remover, etc.)

For Guests

  • Program fans (serve double duty as ceremony programs and cooling devices)
  • Sunscreen station
  • Flip-flops basket
  • Refreshment station with water
  • Bug spray station (for evening events)
  • Blankets or wraps (for evening events)

Pro Tips from Behind the Lens

As your photographer, here are some insider tips I've gathered from years of shooting beach weddings:

Consider the Wind: Choose your hairstyle and veil length accordingly. I always recommend a trial run with your hair stylist to ensure your style can withstand ocean breezes.

Timing is Everything: Plan your ceremony time based on the sun's position. I can help you determine the optimal time for the best lighting at your specific location.

Have a Backup Plan: Even in sunny Florida, weather can be unpredictable. Select a nearby indoor venue as a Plan B, and make sure your vendors are prepared for both scenarios.

Think About Sound: The ocean is beautiful but loud. Invest in a good sound system and consider having your officiant wear a microphone.

Remember, your beach wedding should be a reflection of your love story. Whether you're dreaming of a barefoot ceremony at sunrise or an elegant sunset celebration, Palm Beach offers the perfect setting. As your photographer, I'm here to not just capture these moments but to help guide you through the planning process to ensure your day is everything you've imagined and more.
